Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to formulate a plan for the alleviation of extreme poverty in Kotabaru Regency, utilizing a library research approach based on documents, government publications, and statistical data to understand the root causes of poverty. As of 2024, Kotabaru Regency ranks third in South Kalimantan as the region with the highest number of poor residents, totaling 15,978 people. Of this number, 8.98%, or 1,435 individuals, are still categorized as Extremely Poor. The research findings indicate that the root causes of poverty can be observed across four sectors: education, employment, health, and basic infrastructure. The poverty alleviation strategy in these four sectors encompasses reducing the burden of living expenses for the poor, increasing their capacity and income, and eliminating poverty pockets. This research recommends planning programs supported by local government finance using a priority scale to ensure that extreme poverty alleviation programs in Kotabaru Regency are effective and sustainable in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030
